We have developed a very simple model for this, which involves archetypes. Jean Shinoda Bolen is the pioneer of this concept, suggesting that everyone\u2019s behavior is shaped by their archetypes. She uses Greek gods and goddesses as imagery. We\u2019ve adapted this model for a business context. Essentially, everyone, including you, has a choice between different archetypes or behaviors. By observing and listening closely to the other person, you can determine which archetype will have the desired effect. It\u2019s like dealing with children. Depending on what your child does (or shouldn\u2019t do), you adjust your behavior to achieve your goals. For instance, if your child throws a tantrum in the supermarket, you might:[\/vc_custom_heading][uncode_list uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;204406&#8243; el_class=&#8221;list-text&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Get angry yourself<\/li>\n<li>Lie down on the floor and tantrum too<\/li>\n<li>Sweeten the deal with a candy<\/li>\n<li>Ignore the behavior<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/uncode_list][vc_custom_heading text_color=&#8221;color-125326&#8243; heading_semantic=&#8221;h6&#8243; text_font=&#8221;font-147016&#8243; text_size=&#8221;h6&#8243; text_weight=&#8221;500&#8243; text_height=&#8221;fontheight-357766&#8243; text_space=&#8221;fontspace-781688&#8243; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;176483&#8243; text_color_type=&#8221;uncode-palette&#8221;]Similarly, after observing your boss closely, you discover which archetype they primarily use and adjust your behavior accordingly. He was distant and only talked about facts. He lacked empathy, and I often didn\u2019t understand what he meant, especially since he was quite terse. I had a major clash with him over a personal issue with a team member, and he immediately attacked me, saying I was apparently unsuitable for my role. I was furious, and it didn\u2019t end well, leading me to leave quickly (I started my own business). In hindsight, I recognize him as the distant, factual Apollo archetype. I used the nurturing Demeter archetype myself. These two are like oil and water\u2026 That doesn\u2019t work. Now, I would think, \u201cOkay, he wants facts. I need to translate this personal issue into factual consequences, preferably with an Excel sheet.\u201d[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_custom_heading text_color=&#8221;color-125326&#8243; heading_semantic=&#8221;h6&#8243; text_font=&#8221;font-147016&#8243; text_size=&#8221;h6&#8243; text_weight=&#8221;500&#8243; text_height=&#8221;fontheight-357766&#8243; text_space=&#8221;fontspace-781688&#8243; uncode_shortcode_id=&#8221;101150&#8243; text_color_type=&#8221;uncode-palette&#8221;]Or consider dealing with a dominant Alpha Male Zeus? If your dominant archetype is primarily Hestia, it won\u2019t work.
